Prototypen://  Multimedia Festival ohne Strom

Am 4. September 2010 wurde der gARTen ab Sonnenaufgang für 24 Stunden in eine Zukunftswerkstatt verwandelt, die ihren Strom ausschließlich aus regenerativen Quellen und Muskelkraft der Besucher bezogen hat. Internationale Medienkünstler, Performer, Musiker und Wissenschaftler bezogen Position und zeigten in einem abwechslungsreichen und inspirierenden Programm, wie sie Zukunft leben könnten.

Globale Erwärmung und Klimawandel sind eine Tatsache, die nicht erst seit dem Weltklimagipfel  in  Kopenhagen  kontrovers diskutiert wird. Das Festival Prototypen//: bietet die Chance, der verwirrenden politischen und wirtschaftlichen Situation neue kreative Impulse zum essentiellen Thema „Energie“ entgegenzusetzen. Ziel des Festivals ist es, dieser globalen Problematik ein Gesicht zu geben, das nicht einem Horrorszenario gleicht, sondern eine inspirierende Herausforderung darstellt. Der Besucher ist der passende Schlüssel dazu. Dabei wechselt er die passive Rolle des Zuschauers, wird aktiv und produziert selbst „Energie“.

Prototypes:// Multimedia Festival without electricity

For one day and one night a green hayfield in the northern part of Dortmund turns into a future-factory, which sources its electricity exclusively from regenerative founts and the muscle power of the visitors. In a broadly grasped spectrum of multi-media international and local media artists, performers, musicians and scientists take a stand a show in a diversified program, how they design future.

The scenario

On the festival area there is a brisk activity going on: sliding, turning, goggling, trampling, touching, lingering, discussing and discovering among other things:

• interactive installations, that change their sound through gravity
  

• films and concerts, where the viewers are requested to pedal

• sound objects, whose tone changes with the movements of the audience

• save the world? A child´s play! Discussions with experts

• visitors with their own transistor radio - the radio concert

• places for retirement, relaxing and sleeping during the 24-hour-program

Aim of the Project

Global warming and climate change are a fact, which is controversially debated – not primely since the world climate summit in Copenhagen. The festival Prototypes//: offers the opportunity to give new and creative impulses considering the essential topic „energies“ in order to subtend the confusing political and economic situation. The intent of the festival is to give this global problem a face, which is not a horror scenario, but an inspiring challenge. The visitor marks the matching key for this ambition, as he changes from the passive role into activity, whereas producing energy himself.
